Pingback: Why even small African matches matter! | Tracing African Roots
Very nicely done!
* Make the dendogram easier to read by color coding people by ethnic groups, so the Kassena vs African Americans vs Congolese, in different highlighted colors.
* This visualizes relaetionships well, but as you mentioned the phasing would make it even more accurate, however what if you did triangulation?
* Triangulation can be done in part with gedmatch auto-clustering and the triangulation tool, there are of course software that you can run on your machine directly against the data for this purpose as well, the name escapes me at the moment.
*For example, I have 2 Hausa-Fulani matches from North Nigeria and South Niger, both of them triangulate on this segment in Chromosome 12 with Fulanis from Fotua Djallon, and when I talked to both of them genelogically they both have a grandparent or great-grandparent who was a fulani from fouta djallon, sot he common denominator for that segment is Fouta Djallon, Guinea and Fulanis. This means that these hausa-fulani of north-nigeria and south nigera are very conncected genealogically and genetically to Guinea.
